French Version
Patrice van Eersel was born in 1949 in Morocco, where he completed his baccalaureate in 1966. He then began studying advanced mathematics at Lycée Henri-IV in Paris with the aim of becoming an engineer. But upon discovering Paris, France, and the world of the press, he changed course to become a journalist. He studied at the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris (class of 1970), then at the Centre de Formation des Journalistes (class of 1972). After working successively at France Culture and the newly founded Libération, he became a senior reporter for the monthly magazine Actuel from 1974 to 1994, covering subjects ranging from African music to neurological research in the United States, as well as interspecies communication and “citizen diplomacy” between Russians and Americans. From 1993 to 2015, he served as editor-in-chief of the quarterly Nouvelles Clés and then the bimonthly CLÉS, publications devoted to spirituality, ecology, and practical philosophy. Since then, he has focused on extending his later research through freelance reporting.
From this half-century of journalism have come around thirty books, the best known of which addresses palliative care and the near-death experience, under the title La Source noire. Le Cinquième Rêve focuses on communication with cetaceans. La Source blanche explores the history of Dialogues avec l’ange. Le Cercle des anciens examines the survival of shamanic cultures today. Mettre au monde delves into the mysteries of birth. Noosphère presents the Teilhardian vision of a planetary consciousness. Finally, Le Soleil est-il conscient ? addresses the emergence of a renewed form of animism, made necessary by the growing deafness of modern societies to the nature that gave rise to them.
Married since 1980 to Michèle, née Bueb, a psychologist who has run centers for specialized prevention and later became a hypnotherapist, Patrice van Eersel has three sons, one daughter, and, so far, seven grandchildren.
